Veterinary Technician

Village Vet Clinic is seeking a skilled, compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our dedicated animal care team. As a vital member of our veterinary hospital, you will assist veterinarians in providing comprehensive medical care, perform diagnostic procedures, and ensure the comfort and safety of all animals in our care. Key Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures and animal examinations
• Perform and interpret laboratory tests (bloodwork, urinalysis, imaging)
• Take radiographs (X-rays) and ultrasound images
• Administer medications, injections, and treatments
• Handle and restrain animals safely during procedures
• Maintain detailed medical records and documentation
• Prepare surgical instruments and maintain sterilization protocols
• Monitor patient vital signs and post-operative recovery
• Provide post-discharge instructions and patient care guidance to pet owners
• Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized veterinary facility

Required Qualifications

• Veterinary Technician license or registration (or eligible to test) in Alabama
• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in a veterinary clinical setting
• Strong knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures
• Proficiency with veterinary practice management software
• Excellent animal handling and restraint skills
• Ability to work standing for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Commitment to animal welfare and client service excellence

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with multiple species (dogs, cats, exotic animals)
• Certification in surgical or anesthesia monitoring
• Experience with digital radiography and ultrasound equipment
• Knowledge of emergency and critical care procedures
